Files

The Files tab holds all the documents, notes and text documents you keep in Nexnor. Here you organise them in folders, sort and filter them and create new ones.

Tap “Files” in the tab bar. At the top right are the buttons for “List” or “Grid”, “Sort and Filter”, “Describe All Here …”, “Select” and + “Create or import”, followed by “Search” and “More”.

The open folder is divided into sections: “Folders” with its subfolders, “Contents” with PDFs, notes and mixed documents, and “Text documents” with Markdown and TXT files. Each row shows the kind, page count, size and modification date, with the short description below. Tap a document to open it in the workspace.

Inside a folder, the path bar at the top shows where you are, for example “On My Nexnor › Clients”. Tap a level to jump there; “Back” takes you up one level. Nexnor reopens the last folder you used the next time it starts.

NoteWithout Nexnor Pro, the sidebar on iPad shows at the bottom how many of the 10 free documents are in use. Tap it to see Nexnor Pro.
On iPadOn the left is the sidebar with “Recently Opened”, “Favorites” and shortcuts, then “Locations” with “On My Nexnor” and the folder tree, “Tags” and “Trash”. Use the “Sidebar” button at the top left to hide or show it.

At the top level, the list view also shows “Recently Opened” and “Favorites” with your shortcuts at the top, followed by “Locations”, “Tags”, “Trash” and the “Recently Opened” section with the four latest documents. “Back” takes you from these views to the top level again.

On iPhone DuoFolded, Files uses a single column as on iPhone; unfolded, the sidebar appears as on iPad and reaches to the fold. When you open the info pane, the sidebar makes room; the list is then left and the info pane right of the fold.

Folders #

Folders can be nested inside each other. Tap a folder to open it.

Touch and hold a folder to open its menu: “Add to Favorites” or “Remove from Favorites”, “New Subfolder”, “Rename”, “Move to…” and “Delete”. Under “Move to…”, choose “Files” for the top level or a destination folder; folders are listed with their full path, such as “Clients / 2026”. The folder itself, its subfolders and folders in the Trash are not listed.

You can also drag a folder onto another folder or onto a level of the path bar.

How to

  1. Open the folder the new folder should go into, or stay at the top level.
  2. Tap + and choose “New Folder” at the top level or “New Subfolder” inside a folder.
  3. Enter a name in the “New Folder” dialog and tap “Save”.
NoteA deleted folder moves to the Trash together with all its files and subfolders.
On iPadIn the sidebar’s folder tree, use the arrow to expand or collapse a folder; touching and holding opens the same menu without “Move to…”, and “On My Nexnor” offers “New Subfolder”. Drag a folder onto the top edge of another folder in the tree to place it before that folder.

View, sorting and filters #

The first button at the top right switches between “List” and “Grid”. The grid shows large previews of the first PDF page; notes appear there with an icon. In the grid, open a tile’s info through its … menu.

Use “Sort and Filter” to set the order and to hide files by kind or description. “Mixed” documents contain both PDF and note pages. When a filter is active, the icon is filled; “Reset Filters” shows everything again.

Nexnor remembers your view, sort order and filters.

Favourites, recently opened and tags #

You assign tags to a file in the info pane: tap a tag to assign it or remove it again. To add a tag to several files, use the selection. Tap a tag in the “Tags” section to see all files with that tag across folders.

The “Tags” section appears as soon as tags exist.

On iPadIn the sidebar, “Recently Opened” lists up to twelve recently opened documents and “Favorites” shows all favourite files and folders. Below them are shortcuts to favourite folders, tags and saved views; tap one to open it.
