Getting started

iPad, iPhone and iPhone Duo

Nexnor runs on iPad, iPhone and iPhone Duo with the same features. The layout adapts to the available width: on large screens columns sit side by side, on small screens they open one after another.

Device

iPad #

On iPad, the area tabs are at the top centre. “Home” shows two columns: task cards on the left, the content you’re working with on the right.

In “Tasks” and “Files”, a sidebar with filters, folders and lists sits on the left; show or hide it with the sidebar icon at the top left. Details of a task or file appear as a column on the right.

  • Workspace: Open the sidebar with page thumbnails using “Page overview” at the top left. The Format panel appears as a column on the right.
  • Split View: With Nexnor Pro you can show two documents side by side and move the divider between them. See Split View.
  • Status line: Below the tabs, Nexnor shows whether everything is saved and which page you’re on.
NoteNexnor follows the window width, not the device. If the Nexnor window on iPad is narrow, for example next to another app, it looks the same as on iPhone.

iPhone #

On iPhone, the area tabs are in the tab bar at the bottom. Everything is in a single column: what appears alongside on iPad opens here as its own view or as a sheet from the bottom.

  • Tasks: You see the filters first. Tap a filter to open the list; the details of a task appear as a sheet.
  • Files: Open folders one after another; “Info” for a file appears as a sheet.
  • Workspace: “Page overview” opens page management instead of a sidebar. The Format panel appears as a sheet. The tools sit together in one bar at the bottom.
  • Save status and page: When you change pages, Nexnor briefly shows the page number. Whether everything is saved is shown at the top of the document menu (tap the name of the active tab).
NoteSplit View with two documents side by side is only available on wide screens (iPad, unfolded iPhone Duo).

iPhone Duo #

iPhone Duo has an outer and an inner display. Folded, Nexnor behaves as on iPhone; unfolded, as on iPad – with two columns of cards on “Home”, sidebars in “Tasks” and “Files” and the tab bar in the Workspace. Nexnor aligns the columns of “Home”, “Tasks” and “Files” with the fold so that it doesn’t run through cards and rows.

When you fold or unfold the device, the open document stays open. Nexnor keeps the place you’re reading and fits the page to the new width; a zoom level you set yourself is scaled proportionally. Open sheets such as “New Text Document” stay open, an open menu closes.

  • Folded: With several documents open, Nexnor shortens the names of inactive tabs so more tabs stay visible.
  • Unfolded: When task details or, in Files, the info pane are open, the filter column or sidebar temporarily makes room: the list is then left and the details right of the fold.
