Export and Share

Share documents as PDF, print them, create independent copies and open original files that came along. The inspector shows details about the open document.

Device

Export as PDF #

Tap “Share” at the top right and choose an export mode. Nexnor creates the PDF file and opens the share sheet, where you send it, save it or open it in another app.

Alternatively, touch and hold the tab › “Export as PDF” and choose in the “Export Mode” dialog.

ModeResult
“Standard (pages)”All pages at their original size with markings, objects and handwriting on the page. Anything next to the pages is not included.
“Full Workspace”One single large PDF page with all pages and everything beside them, such as task cards, margin notes and handwriting.
“Share Securely (image only, not searchable)”Like Standard, but rebuilt from pixels: without a text layer, metadata, attachments or hidden content. Text in it can’t be selected or searched.
NoteThe “Share” menu is available for PDFs, scanned documents and notes. To export text documents, use “Text Tools” › “Export text file”, see Text Documents.
TipThe empty page that Nexnor keeps ready at the end of a note for more content is left out of the export.

Print #

Tap “Share” › “Print…”. Nexnor prints the standard export with all pages; you choose the printer and options in the print dialog.

To print a text document, use “Text Tools” › “Print…”. Markdown prints formatted. To print an externally opened PDF, use the tab menu › “Print…”. With a keyboard, ⌘P prints.

Save As #

“Save As…” creates an independent copy of the document in your library. Markings, anchors and tasks are copied along, and the original stays unchanged. The copied tasks are separate tasks and also appear in the task list.

How to

  1. Document menu (tap the name of the active tab) › “Save As…”, or touch and hold the tab › “Save As…”.
  2. Adjust the name under “Name”. Nexnor suggests the current name with “Copy”.
  3. Choose the destination under “Folder”; “All Files (top level)” puts the copy at the top.
  4. Tap “Save”. The copy opens in a new tab.
NoteThe copy counts as a document; without Nexnor Pro you can have 10 documents.
TipFiles has no duplicate command. “Save As…” does this job.

Attachments #

When you share files with Nexnor from another app, Nexnor keeps the original files as attachments of the document. This is especially useful for files that Nexnor only turns into an information page, such as Office documents. You find them in the document menu under “Attachments”.

  • “Preview” shows the file.
  • “Share” passes the original file on to another app.
  • “…” menu › “Remove Attachment”, or swipe left, removes the file.
Caution“Remove Attachment” permanently deletes the original file. Pages, images and text already inserted are kept.
NoteWith Nexnor Pro, original files up to 250 MB sync through your private iCloud; larger ones stay on this device. Attachments aren’t part of the PDF export. New attachments can only be added through the share sheet of other apps.

Inspector #

Document menu › “Inspector” shows details about the open document.

  • “Information”: “Created”, “Folder” and “Last page”
  • The document’s “Tags”
  • “Document Tasks”: the open tasks in the document. Tap one to open it in the editor.
  • “Annotations and anchors”: the number of “Task anchors”
  • “Text recognition”: the status of text recognition, such as “OCR in progress” or “OCR completed”. Use “Retry text recognition” in the menu to start a new run.
NoteThe inspector shows its details for imported and copied-in PDFs. For notes you created in Nexnor, it shows the same details as in Files instead, see Info.
TipWith a keyboard, ⌥⌘I opens the inspector.
