Inserting and objects

With “Insert” you add text boxes, images, shapes, tables, links and signatures to your pages. You can then move, resize and rotate these objects and style them in the format panel.

Device

Insert menu #

Tap + (“Insert”) in the tool capsules. Under “Add to this page” choose “Text Box”, “Image”, “Shape”, “Table”, “Link” or “Signature”. Under “Pages & document” you’ll find “Add Page” and “Import PDF Pages…”.

New objects appear in the middle of the visible area. New pages go after the selected page – the page you tapped last.

  • “Add Page” – “Editable Page After” or “Editable Page Before”. Then choose format and paper as for a new note.
  • “Import PDF Pages…” – choose a PDF from the Files app, tap the pages you want or “Select Whole PDF”, then tap “Add Selected”.
TipThe arrow at the top of the menu takes you back one step; the X closes it.

Text boxes, links and tables #

“Text Box” adds an empty text box and opens the keyboard straight away. The box grows downwards as you type. If the text runs past the end of the page, Nexnor continues it on the next page and adds a page if needed.

You can type in inserted text boxes at any time, even when “Edit Text” is off. When you select text in one, buttons for bold, italic and highlight appear at the bottom; “Done” ends typing.

“Link” asks for the “Display text” and the address. After “Insert Link”, the link appears underlined in its own text box.

How to

  1. Tap “Insert” › “Table”.
  2. Set “Rows” (up to 20) and “Columns” (up to 8); the preview shows the grid.
  3. Tap “Insert Table” and type straight into the cells.
  • “Add row”, “Add column” – extend the selected table; the buttons appear at the bottom while the table is selected.
  • “Remove row”, “Remove column” – remove the last row or column.

Images and shapes #

“Image” inserts a photo “From Photos” or an image file “From Files”. With an image selected, you’ll find “Replace” and “Crop” at the bottom. While cropping, the “Left”, “Top”, “Width” and “Height” sliders set the visible area; “Reset” shows the whole image again.

“Shape” inserts a line, an arrow, a rectangle or an ellipse. With the shape selected, choose a colour at the bottom under “Fill” and “Outline” – “Transparent” (fill only), “Indigo”, “Orange”, “Mint”, “Pink” or “Graphite” – and set the stroke with the “Line width” slider.

TipThe same settings are also in the format panel. Images and shapes keep their proportions when you resize them.

Signature #

With “Signature” you sign a document, such as a contract, right in Nexnor. The signature is added to the page as an image, so you can move, resize, rotate and delete it like any other image.

How to

  1. Tap “Insert” › “Signature”.
  2. Sign in the field with Apple Pencil or your finger. “Clear Signature” empties the field for another try.
  3. Tap “Use”.
  4. Drag the signature into place and adjust its size.

Moving and arranging objects #

Tap an object to select it. Tapping more objects adds them to the selection; tapping a selected object again deselects it.

To pick up an image, shape or table, touch and hold it: the object starts to jiggle, and you can move, resize and rotate it. Tap the canvas to stop the jiggling. Newly inserted images, shapes and tables jiggle straight away.

Text boxes don’t jiggle. Drag them directly with one finger to move them.

  • Move – drag with one finger. Afterwards the object sits in front of everything else.
  • Resize – drag the round handle in the bottom-right corner, or pinch apart with two fingers on the object.
  • Rotate – turn with two fingers. The object snaps at 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°.
  • Layers – the small round button in the top-left corner (“Layers”) offers “Bring to front”, “Bring Forward”, “Send Backward” and “Send to back”.
NoteDuplicate and Delete are in the format panel.
TipHold an object with one finger and move the canvas with a second finger to carry it over long distances.

Format panel #

Tap “Format” (brush) in the tool capsules to style the selected object; the X closes the panel. With nothing selected, it shows “Nothing selected” and an overview of what you can style.

With several objects selected, the panel shows how many. “Duplicate” copies all selected objects except task cards in one step and selects the copies; “Delete” removes them all at once.

  • “Text” – under “Font”, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough and highlight (select the text first). Under “Paragraph”, choose a “Text style” (such as “Body”, “Heading” or “Code block”), “Text alignment”, “Text size” and the indent.
  • “Image” – “Replace”, “Reset” and, under “Crop”, the sliders for the visible area.
  • “Table” – under “Structure”, add or remove rows and columns. “Header row” and “Borders” under “Table style” take effect in the exported PDF.
  • “Shape” – “Fill”, “Outline” and “Line width”.
  • “Arrange” – “Bring to front”, “Bring Forward”, “Send Backward”, “Send to back”, plus “Duplicate” and “Delete”.
NoteFor text boxes you created by tapping with “Edit Text”, “Paragraph” and the font styles other than highlight are available only while “Edit Text” is on. Inserted text boxes can always be styled.
Tip“Delete” doesn’t ask first. Use “Undo” to bring a deleted object back.
