Markup, comments and drawing
Highlight important passages in PDFs, add comments and write by hand with Apple Pencil or your finger. The “Markings & Bookmarks” list takes you back to every passage.
Highlight, underline, strike out #
Tap “Highlight” (highlighter) in the tool capsules. In the “Markup” menu choose a pen: “Highlight” (yellow), “Underline” (blue) or “Strike out” (red). “Edit Text” doesn’t need to be on.
If you’ve already selected text, mark it up directly: the “Markup” menu then shows a “Selection” row with the three pens, and the selection menu offers “Highlight”. This also works in text boxes and on scanned pages.
How to
- Choose a pen in the “Markup” menu. A hint such as “Stroke across text to highlight” appears at the top.
- Stroke across the PDF text with your finger or Apple Pencil. The markup snaps to the lines; a short tap marks a single word.
- Tap “Done” to put the pen away.
Comments #
A comment can belong to a text passage, to a page, or sit freely on the canvas. While you write a comment on a passage or page, Nexnor keeps saving your text as a draft on the device (“Draft saved on this device”).
- On a passage – select PDF text and tap “Comment” in the selection menu (or “Comment” in the tool capsules). Type your text under “Comment or Note” and tap “Save”. A comment icon appears beside the passage; the PDF text stays unchanged.
- On a page – tap the tab name and choose “Add Page Comment”. The comment belongs to the PDF page in view; a small icon appears near the top of the page and isn’t printed.
- Freely on the canvas – with no text selected, “Comment” adds an empty text box in the middle of the visible area. Just start typing.
Drawing and handwriting #
Tap “Draw” (pen tip) in the tool capsules. The tool capsules disappear and the system tool palette appears, with pens, eraser, lasso, ruler and colours. At the top you’ll see “Draw” with a “Done” button that ends drawing.
You can draw anywhere, including beside the pages. A stroke belongs to the page where it starts and moves with that page. To scroll while drawing, use two fingers. Nexnor saves your strokes automatically. The stroke width you choose applies on screen: if you draw while zoomed in, the stroke on the page is finer than at normal size.
Whether you can also draw with your finger depends on the system setting “Only Draw with Apple Pencil” in Settings › Apple Pencil. When it’s on, only Apple Pencil draws.

Markings and bookmarks #
Tap the tab name and choose “Markings & Bookmarks”. The list shows every marking, comment and bookmark of a PDF with its page, quoted text and note. Use “Show Passages” to filter by type: “Highlight”, “Underline”, “Strikethrough”, “Comment” or “Bookmark”.
Tap a row to jump to the passage. A row’s ⋯ menu offers “Go to Passage”, “Edit” (change the note or name) and “Delete”. After a confirmation, only that marking or bookmark is removed; page text and tasks stay.
How to
- Go to the PDF page you want.
- Tap the tab name and choose “Add Bookmark”.
- Enter a name under “Bookmark Name” and tap “Save”.
