Getting Started

Nexnor brings documents, notes and tasks together: every task belongs to a place in a document. Here you get to know how the app is organised and create your first task.

How the app is organised #

Nexnor is divided into four areas. Use the tabs to switch between them; next time you open the app, Nexnor starts in the area you used last.

At the top right of every area you’ll find the magnifying glass for Search and the gear for “More”, with Nexnor Pro, iCloud sync and Settings.

  • Home – your overview: the next important task, what’s due today and what you worked on last.
  • Tasks – all tasks with filters such as “Today” or “Scheduled”, your own lists and details.
  • Files – your library of PDFs, notes and text documents, organised in folders.
  • Workspace – where you read and edit documents, each in its own tab.
TipWhen you open a document from Files, Search or a task, Nexnor switches to the Workspace automatically.
On iPadThe tabs are at the top centre, the magnifying glass and gear at the top right.

Sample data on first launch #

On first launch, Nexnor creates a small sample so you can try things out right away: the PDF “Welcome to Nexnor” and the task “Try the PDF anchor”. The task is linked to a passage in the PDF, is due in two hours, repeats weekly and reminds you twice beforehand.

That’s why “Home” already shows the “Up Next” and “Today” cards the first time you open it. Tap the task to see it in “Tasks”, or open the PDF in the Workspace to look at the linked passage.

TipYou can remove the sample at any time: move the PDF to the trash in Files and delete it permanently there – its task is deleted along with it. See Trash.

Your first task from a passage #

In Nexnor, tasks are created right in the document. Try it with the welcome PDF or one of your own:

How to

  1. Open the PDF in the Workspace, for example from Files or the “Continue Working” card on Home.
  2. Select a passage: touch and hold a word, then drag the handles to extend the selection.
  3. In the menu above the selection, tap “Create task”.
  4. The “New Task” editor opens with the selected text already entered as the title. Adjust the title, due date or list.
  5. Tap “Save”.
  • A task card appears in the right margin next to the passage. An orange line connects it to the selected text.
  • The task now also appears in “Tasks” and – if it’s due today – on “Home”. Open it there and Nexnor jumps back to the place in the document.
TipYou can also touch and hold an empty spot on the page and choose “Create task”, for example on images or scanned pages. All the ways are described in Tasks in documents.
